My Ongoing Mission

What I’ve been doing, and will continue to do.

I’m not sure of the exact date I started to “Guerilla Grow” but looking back, it would have been around the year 1999. I used to travel all over the country in a van and in my car, occasionally stopping off a destinations lay-by’s and resting places.

Thinking back, I reckon I have planted well over two hundred tree’s and shrubs. Unfortunately I had no way of marking where they all were planted. I don’t have the memory of a Squirrel, and mobile phones in the 90’s weren’t very SMART. Technology has changed though and so have some innovations. This helps, as now I can log everything and give it a location.

It used to be a case of stamping my boot heel in the ground and simply laying an apple core, or fruit seed in the divet, then covering it over. But these take quite a long time to become actual fruiting tree’s. Although I grow and start off tree’s in my nursery, I much prefer to buy an established tree or shrub, which will fruit in a year or two.

I cannot understand why local councils and authorities have a village green containing a lawn as green space, then put up signs saying “No Ball Games”?? Well what’s that space for, just a lawn? Children can walk on it, but can’t play on it? What a waste of an area.

If I see green space, then there’s something useful going in there, simple as. It is a duty of a local Council, Authority or Government to look after the people. So stop planting Pansies, and planters full of annual plants and plant something that will feed future generations.

Soon I hope to get volunteers onboard. And get them doing the same. Really getting a “Growing Revolution” going!
